Further encouragement of the social cohesion of the municipalities of Belitsa and Makedonska Kamenica

The project should establish a sustainable partnership between the Municipalities of Belitsa and Makedonska Kamenica that will support the development and provision of community based social services in the target municipalities. With this project will invest in the improvement of social infrastructure as a prerequisite for improvement of the quality of life of local people; Will contribute to the social development of the periphery border regions through investments in the rehabilitation and equipment of Day Care Centres for elderly people in Belitsa and Macedonska Kamenica; Will exchange positive practices and know-how between specialist that will provide social services in the target municipalities after the establishment of the two centres; Will develop a common methodology based on the already developed strategy for implementing of community based social services following the best EU practices in the field and in relation to the needs of the final beneficiaries.

Municipality of Makedonska Kamenica is a unit of local government in which citizens employs their right to local self-government.
The right of local self-government is implemented by representatives in the bodies of the municipality and with direct participation of citizens in decision making in a manner determined by law.
According to the latest census of 2002 in the municipality of Kamenica Macedonian total of 8110 inhabitants. In terms of ethnic structure almost 98% of the population are Macedonians and the remaining 2% are of other ethnic minorities. Almost equal distribution of the population in terms of gender balance.
