The action will bring together youth from the border region to collaborate on the production of a puppet theatre performance based on fairy tails with the character “Clever Peter”, a hero in many fairy tales throughout the Balkans. Children in the border region will collect fairy tales to illustrate and will choose a tale to bring to life through puppets. Puppetry is a highly effective and dynamically creative means of exploring the richness of interpersonal communication. This project seeks to remind Bulgarians and Macedonians of the importance of appreciating similar roots and motivate youngsters to take an interest in their historical and cultural heritage. Youth are often not inspired to reflect on the past because they see it as outdated and unfashionable. However, the idea of creating a puppet theatre based on collected fairy tales will motivate the young participants to see how much the countries in the Balkan region have in common. |
